Limited numbers of unweaned baby birds for hand-feeding are sometimes available, for a discount, to experienced hand-feeders only.

To Reserve a Bird:
Most birds can be reserved for a definite amount of time with a deposit of 10% of the total cost ($10 minimum). Deposits are generally non-refundable, but exceptions may be made if something happens on our end, such as the bird dying or getting permently injured.
Baby birds can be reserved shortly after hatching. There is a $3-$5 discount for reserving a hookbilled baby before weaning.
We also offer a short-term hold, which does not require a deposit. This hold is valid for up to several days, depending on the circumstances, and is meant to give prospective owners enough time to mail in a deposit or come out to our house to get a bird.

To Get Birds From Us:
If you live close enough, we would prefer for you to come to our house. Contact us ahead of time to schedule an appointment.
We also take our birds to the Michiana Bird Society's Bird Fair put on every March in Mishawaka, IN,
and to some of the four Wolf Swap Meets per year near Ligonier, IN.
But what if you live out of the area? Well, we can probably ship birds domestically by Delta Airlines, shipped from South Bend, IN. We haven't actually shipped any yet, but we've researched it a little bit. This is the proposed plan: You pay the shipping, plus any handling fees. Shipping usually costs at least $100, plus you would need to send the empty carrier back to us somehow. Some months may be difficult to ship in, given the temperatures. At this point, we will not ship Cockatiels, Bourke's Parakeets, or parent-raised Zebra Finches. Before we ship a bird we'll give you a detailed description and--if the computer, camera and everything else cooperates--pictures, so you'll know exactly what you're getting.
We also go on occasional out-of-state trips, so if we are going to go near your house anyway it is possible that we could deliver your bird to you.
Our next trip is to Madison, WI on March 10th.
Also in mid March, we will be going to Berrien County, MI.

Health Concerns:
All our birds for sale are in good general health to the best of our knowledge. If there are any known problems or relevant infirmities with a particular bird (such as habitual biting or damage from an injury) we will make sure the buyer knows about it before purchasing the bird.

Conclusion:
Our desire is for you to enjoy for many years the birds you buy from us and we will try to do the best we can on our end to ensure that this happens. Our greatest joy in raising pet birds is hearing how much they are enjoyed in their new homes. We enjoy occasional updates on our former birds about what new words or tricks they've learned, funny mannerisms that they have, etc. We appreciate your business and your recommendations to family, friends and acquaintances.
